Catholic Schools Week was a fun-filled week of activities and also faith-filled week highlighting Saint Pius V School’s rich Catholic identity. The week-long celebration of Catholic education opened with a beautiful 10 AM Mass at St. Pius V Parish. Many students, families, and faculty and staff members were in attendance. After Mass, a handful of students, faculty members, and administrators shared brief testimonials on what the St. Pius V School community means to them. All parishioners, as well as prospective students and families, were invited to the school’s Open House following Mass. Visitors were offered coffee and baked goods and received tours of the school guided by parents and members of the Student Council.
The theme of this year’s Catholic Schools Week was “Catholic Schools: United in Faith and Community.” From spirited minute-to-win-it games and Just Dance competitions; service projects, such as preparing sandwiches to donate to the Emmanuel House Homeless Shelter; discussion panels including members of our community who are veterans, members of the active military, or Dominican priests; and an exciting volleyball game between the 8th graders and the faculty and staff, Saint Pius V School’s celebration of Catholic Schools certainly exemplified the theme of unity through faith and community. Even the dress down themes reflected faith and community: dress as an American Saint or Blessed, your favorite St. Pius V School teacher, and in black and white to honor our Dominican Sisters and Friars.
This week-long celebration of Catholic Schools culminated with a successful Mirrorball Gala at the Guild Brewery in Pawtucket, RI. Live and silent auctions brought members of the school community together to raise funds to enhance classroom spaces and increase STEAM learning opportunities for Saint Pius V School’s students.
