Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, when priests put ashes on our foreheads. It reminds us that we will not be on earth for a long time, but that eventually we will end up with Jesus in heaven. You might be asking, "What is Lent?" Lent is like Advent, a period of preparation, but not for Christmas. It is preparation for Easter, and it lasts 40 days. Catholics often pick something specific to give up, or fast from. Isaac in the 8th grade said, "It is uncomfortable to give up stuff that we love during Lent, but it is worth it because we give it up for God."
